Things were pretty quiet during the Burbank Water and Power drought patrol ride-along I did on this story for Marketplace. But we did see a little bit of action, including one fellow watering his lawn when he shouldn’t have been.
Besides cruising Burbank’s streets on drought patrol with Jack Corbett (pictured above), I learned how new software and a water recycling program have helped Burbank cut its water use by 24 percent since June.
That’s in line with water conservation mandates set by California Governor Jerry Brown that are in effect until next October. Already four Southern California water utilities, including Beverly Hills, are facing big fines for failing to meet that mandate.
